The Most Romantic City in Iowa to Celebrate Valentine’s Day

In honor of Valentine's Day next month, the website Thrillist put together a list of the best romantic weekend getaways in all 50 states. For the state of Iowa, the site ended up choosing the city of Decorah. The article says:

"Decorah gets name-dropped a lot in reference to The Hotel Winneshiek, a pretty hotel boasting a taproom, 'opera house,' and at least two fancy stone pillars. Obviously, you should stay there, but don't spend all weekend cooped up in the place. Get out to Malanaphy Springs and Phelps Park for your nature fix. Head to the speedway on Saturday, if you're into fast cars. Or go to the Wayside Skating Rink, if you're into slower-paced races."

The Visit Decorah website lists all sorts of fun winter activities that couples can take part in. In addition to ice skating, there's also snowshoeing, skiing, and even an ice cave you can visit! If you'd rather stay indoors, you can check out all of the locally-owned shops and spas, or take a walk through one of the museums. Oh, and did we mention all the restaurants, breweries, and wineries? Decorah is home to Toppling Goliath Brewery, Rubaiyat, Twin Springs Supper Club, Winneshiek Wildberry Winery, and other popular spots.
