Food & Wine released their list of the 5 Most Creative Bars in the US this year and the top two spots belong to two of the best bars in the Windy City. The bar in second place is called The Aviary, and the bar at the top of the list is known as The Violet Hour. What makes these bars so creative? On the list, they say this about The Aviary...

"...its unique brand of molecular mixology had already earned a James Beard Award for “Outstanding Bar Program.” And today, it stays ahead of the curve on creativity, assembling layered Jungle Birds and Pisco slushies from a designated cocktail kitchen. Certain standouts remain as fresh and exciting today as they were when they debuted, such as the In The Rocks — a spin on a Sazerac, which is built into an ice sphere and requires a slingshot to unleash."

And the list says this about the top spot winner The Violet Hour...

"...you can choose from brandy-based arrangements shaken with riesling and black walnuts (Snow Bird) or blended scotch stirred soulfully with squash tincture (Hanz & Franz)."

Food & Wine also listed The Violet Hour as one of the 10 Best Overall Bars in the US, and you can read more about it by clicking here!

I love the idea of visiting a creative bar setting every once in a while, but how could you be a regular there with the prices? These bars deserve high praise for their creativity and as a proud person from Chicago I love that we have these bars in my city, but give me a local bar with Miller Lite on tap and I'm a happy camper.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
