This is not a joke. Well, it kind of is in that the artist who made this did so as a tribute to all the dogs that poo in his flower bed in front of this Chicago home. (You can read more about it here.)

This next hidden gem is perplexing.

THE SECRET MERMAID

Sometime before 2000, four sculptors combined their skills to create a mermaid out of a random rock in Chicago's Burnham Park. The mermaid was carved into the rock in a way that it was only on one side. The entire rock was not sculpted.

in 2000, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers discovered the work of art while doing some restoration work to the area. When the media learned of this there were all sorts of speculation about where the mermaid came from.

The artwork was removed at some point and then brought back for the public to enjoy.

WHERE IS IT, EXACTLY?

This is the perplexing part. It used to sit near the water at Oakwood Beach but, when looking at Google Stree View (last updated 2021), the mermaid appears to be missing?

Where the heck is it?
