Cover Boy Tom Brady Gives ‘Madden Curse’ Metaphorical Middle Finger
It takes a special kind of chutzpah for someone in Boston to poo-poo the idea of a curse, but Tom Brady isn't your run-of-the-mill New Englander.
The Patriots quarterback will grace the cover of Madden 18, which is just another accomplishment he can add to his already jam-packed resume.
Being on the cover of the popular game comes with an inherent risk (just look at these players whose careers suffered twists of misfortune after they made the cover).
Couple that with the fact that Boston is the home of the granddaddy of sports curses -- the Curse of the Bambino that the Red Sox finally snapped when winning the World Series in 2004 -- and you can understand why some fans who'd normally be "pahking the cah in Hahvahd yahd" would be inclined to drive it off a cliff, instead. Sure, that's baseball and Brady is a football god, but, come on, should anyone in that city take the idea of a curse lightly?
Well, when you're a sixth round draft pick with five Super Bowl rings and arguably the greatest signal caller in the game's history, the typical rules don't apply, so you can't totally blame His Deflategateness for being so flip about the whole thing. Check out his response when discovering he's made the cover. Guess you can tempt fate when you've done as much as number 12 has.
