The State Patrol will conduct its second round of high-intensity patrols from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening. The first round targeted the Brainerd Lakes area last month, when troopers reportedly stopped nearly 800 motorists. The Minnesota Department of Public Safety provided a breakdown of the stops:

During the first Project 20(22) enforcement held on May 13 to May 15 in the Brainerd Lakes area, troopers stopped:

  • 786 vehicles
  • 602 for speeding
  • A 16-year-old driver was cited for going 102 mph in a 65 zone
  • 14 drivers were arrested for DWI

As of June 23, 163 people have died on the state’s roads, according to Preliminary data from the Department of Public Safety. The enforcement effort will return to the Twin Cities next month, then target Interstate 35 near Duluth in August before wrapping up the effort on Interstate 94 near Moorhead in September.

Most Visited State Parks In Minnesota: Is Your Favorite in the List?

Minnesota has 75 beautiful state parks. The parks have an average of 9,700,000 visitors each year. Interestingly enough, nearly 19% of park visitors come from other states and countries, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Now, my favorite State Park is Jay Cooke in Carlton, MN, but it did not break into the top 5.
