MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins plan to honor manager Ron Gardenhire for his 1,000th career victory.

The team has scheduled a special pregame ceremony to honor Gardenhire before Wednesday's 12:10 p.m. game against the Oakland Athletics at Target Field.

The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will include a video featuring some of Gardenhire's milestones as well as a gift presentation from the Twins organization.

Gardenhire notched his 1,000th career victory when the Twins beat Cleveland 7-3 on Saturday. Gardenhire, who has managed Minnesota since 2002, joined Tom Kelly as the only managers in Twins history to reach 1,000 wins.

Phil Hughes is scheduled to start on the mound for the Twins in today's game, against Jesse Chavez of Oakland.  Our coverage begins with the pre-game show at 11:40 this morning on 1340 KROC AM.
