(Rochester, Minn.) – Friday morning, the rosters for the 2014 Northwoods League All-Star Game were announced and a couple of Honkers learned they will be heading to Mequon, Wis., to play in this year’s All-Star Game at Kapco Park, home of the Lakeshore Chinooks, on July 22.

Pitchers Matt Kent and Jeff Campbell will both be making the trips to Mequon on July 22 to participate in the festivities. It is Kent’s second-straight year making the North Division All-Star squad and Campbell’s first.

Kent, despite being just 1-3 this season, made the team thanks in part to his 39 strikeouts in 39.2 innings and keeping a solid 2.95 ERA. Kent’s allowed just 31 hits and six walks all summer. From Texas A&M, it’s Kent’s second selection in as many years to the Northwoods League North Division All-Star Team – one of just three 2013 All-Stars to return.

Campbell was a deserving representative for the Honkers, too. Technically listed on the Honkers roster as a pitcher, Campbell regularly serves as a designated hitter for Rochester. He currently leads the team in batting average (.343) and home runs (4) and is second on the team in RBIs (23). As a pitcher, Campbell has been tough to hit. Primarily used in relief, he’s kept an ERA of 1.83 in 19.2 innings and has recorded three saves this summer. In his 10 appearances, he’s only allowed 11 hits and three walks.

Both players were chosen in a vote by the 18 member teams of the Northwoods League. Ballots were cast by each team’s field staff and media contacts.

The All-Star Game will take place at 6:45 p.m. on July 22 at Kapco Park in Mequon.
