Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The University of Minnesota is seeking proposals for student housing in downtown Rochester.

A post on the U of M’s website requests proposals for forming a public-private partnership with the University and the YMCA to develop an over 150,000 square foot building on land currently owned by the University of Minnesota-Rochester south of 6th Street along 1st Avenue Southwest and South Broadway. The request states the project will include approximately 77,000 square feet of living and dining space for 230 first-year students. Almost 30,000 square feet of space would be used for a YMCA wellness center, while the remainder would house classrooms, offices, common areas, and room for the building’s utilities and other mechanicals.

The deadline for submitting proposals is the afternoon of December 18th. Information about the estimated cost and timeline for the project is not yet available.
