Waseca Police ID Man Who Opened Fire Inside Home Monday Night
39-year-old David Huff of Waseca is currently awaiting charges stemming from an incident in which he allegedly opened fire inside a home last (Monday) night in Waseca.
According to a Waseca Police Department news release:
On February 24, 2020, at approximately 6:26 pm, the Waseca Police Department responded to 514 7th Ave. SE to investigate a report of a male in the house with a gun. The complainant reported that the male, later identified as David Huff, age 39 of Waseca, had been using methamphetamine for a few days and was hallucinating. The complainant also reported that Mr. Huff had fired the gun twice inside the residence. The complainant was able to leave the residence.
Waseca Police Officers, as well as officers from the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office, the New Richland Police Department, and the Janesville Police Department responded. It was determined that the South Central Drug Investigative Unit SWAT and the MN River Valley SWAT teams would be called to assist in removing Mr. Huff from the residence. After negotiating with Mr. Huff, he did eventually leave the residence at 11:22 pm. A search warrant was executed at the residence and officers located additional firearms, ammunition, firearms-related items, methamphetamine, and other controlled substances.
Mr. Huff is currently in custody and his being held at the Waseca County jail awaiting criminal charges. His initial court appearance is scheduled for February 26, 2020, at 11:00 am in Waseca District Court.
