Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  Watch out for cops running along some busy southeast Minnesota highways and roads.

The annual southeast Minnesota Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is being held today (Thursday).

It will start at the Olmsted County Government Center at 7:30 a.m. and participants will cover a 95-mile route that will end in Hastings. Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson says officers will either run, jog or ride a bike during the event.

The route will take participants along Highway 52 to Zumbrota. Officers will then move to Highway 58 and follow the route to Highway 63 and make their way to Lake City. The route will then shift to Highway 61 and head north to Red Wing and Hastings, where the run is scheduled to end around 5:00 pm.

Police officers from Rochester, Zumbrota, Lake City, Hastings, and Red Wing will take part. Deputies from Olmsted and Goodhue County will also join the run along with officers from the federal prison in Rochester and the state prison in Faribault.

Torgerson says he plans to ride a bike for the entire 95-mile route.
