Have you ever taken a kid fishing? You'll have your chance on Saturday, June 13th as the 17th Annual 'Take a Kid Fishing Day' takes place at Whitewater State Park. This event is in conjunction with the Minnesota State Parks Open House and National Get Outdoors Day. 

This event is designed to help youngsters ages 10 to 15 start trout fishing. Guides from the Win Cres Trout Unlimited Chapter will take small groups of kids and parents to different parts of the Whitewater River within the park. Kids will learn how to rig a pole, where to cast and how to release fish safely. The event will run from 8:30 am until noon and lunch will be provided.All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult chaperone.  Participants are encouraged to wear rubber boots or shoes that can get muddy and long socks and pants to protect skin from wood nettles along the riverbanks.  To sign up, email sara.holger@state.mn.us or call 507-932-3007 ext 226.
