Deputies Respond to Student Fight at Stewartville High School
Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fight that was reported at the Stewartville High School Wednesday morning.
Sheriff’s Captain James Schueller said a deputy was dispatched to the school shortly before 11:30 Wednesday morning. The deputy was then shown two videos being shared on social media that depicted a 16-year-old female student being assaulted by three other teenage girls.
One video reportedly showed the victim being dragged down to the ground from behind by her hair before being repeatedly punched in the head by a 15-year-old girl from Rochester. A second video showed the reported victim get herself off the ground only to be pushed down and repeatedly punched in the head again, Schueller said.
Two students are seen trying to stop the fight and two other students, both identified as 16-year-old girls, were seen joining the reported assault. The fight had ended when the deputy arrived, according to Schueller.
The deputy spoke with the victim who said she had split from the group of four girls last year after they got in trouble for smoking marijuana and has been harassed by the group ever since. The 15-year-old suspect told law enforcement she had heard the victim wanted to fight her and kill her, said Schueller.
The victim in the case reportedly had bloody scrapes on her left elbow and left knee as well as a large bump on her head. Schueller said investigators are awaiting the results of medical records to determine the extent of the girl’s injuries.
Schueller said charging decisions will be made based on the severity of the young girl’s injuries. The Stewartville School District has not immediately returned a request for comment on the incident.
