One man was critically injured over the weekend after a large fight spilled into the streets of downtown Rockford according to police.

Rockford PD responded to the District Bar and Grill at 205 W. State Street on Saturday night (1/28) for a reported "large fight and multiple shots fired" around 12:20 am, and when they arrived received details about the argument that ended up in the street with one individual firing a shot toward a group of people.

Just moments later, Rockford Police got information regarding a victim arriving at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

According to the press release, the man who was shot is 26-years-old and is in critical but stable condition. His identity was not released by Rockford PD.

Businesses nearby also had damage from the gunfire with bullets shattering the windows at the TNT Funnel Cakes at 201 W. State Street. TNT Funnel Cakes posted a message on their Facebook page saying the damage to their business was "due to the ignorance of others."

Owners of TNT Funnel Cakes said via Facebook that the shooting "did not happen AT our establishment rather TO our establishment."

Rockford Police asks that anyone who may have information regarding the shooting on Saturday at the District Bar and Grill, please contact the RPD at 815-966-2900.
