That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Thursday. The alleged property damage occurred on several occasions in late March and early April.

Rochester Police responded to the first property damage call on March 21 at the 3rd St. Southwest parking ramp in downtown Rochester. The property manager reported someone had written x’s on four pillars and several walls in the nearby skyway, the complaint says.

The cost to repair the damage was estimated to be around $10,000. The court filing says police identified the suspected vandal as 26-year-old Jerrell Guider of Rochester.

The officer tracked Guider’s movements throughout the skyway system by reviewing surveillance footage. He’s seen carving x’s into the walls of the skyway connected to parking ramp 6, inflicting an estimated $100 in damages, the complaint says.

Guider is also accused of inflicting an estimated $3350 in damages to the skyway at the Bio Business Center and etching an x into the wall of the downtown Wells Fargo bank, the charging document says.

Guider, who is listed in the court document as homeless, was arrested at the Rochester Salvation Army on Wednesday. He admitted to carving the X’s to police, saying he used them to remember where he had been, the complaint says.
