Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester teenage man has been accused of sexually assaulting a child.

The alleged sex assault occurred about a month after his 18th birthday. The criminal complaint says the victim is a five-year-old girl. 

He was booked into the Olmsted County Jail on Sunday and formally charged in the case in Olmsted County Court on Tuesday.

The charges say a Rochester Police officer took a report from a woman on Saturday who said her young daughter had been sexually assaulted at their home by 18-year-old Austin Anthony Russ

Russ was tasked with caring for the child at her home while her parents were at work. The young girl told her parents on Saturday that Russ had sexually assaulted her on April 3, the complaint says.

The young girl’s parents confronted Russ about the alleged sex assault on two occasions. He initially denied sexually assaulting the young girl then admitted to the act when he was confronted a second time by the victim’s parents, according to the court filing. 

Around 2:00 Sunday morning, Rochester Police responded to the report of a person in crisis at a northwest Rochester home.

The charges say the person, identified as Russ, was said to be intoxicated and talking about sexually assaulting a young girl. 

During a Sunday evening interview with police, Russ admitted to sexually assaulting the young girl twice on April 3, the complaint says.

Russ has been charged with a count of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and a count of Second-Degree Criminal sexual conduct. 

His bail on Tuesday was set at $100,000. Russ is due back in court later this month.
