See Inside an Abandoned 400 Acre $20 Million Illinois Horse Farm
There was a time when this was a thriving Illinois horse farm. Now, the mansion and it's surroundings are gone, but there's a chance to get one last look at what it was like thanks to some urban explorers.
Here's the quick backstory of what this mansion and horse facility in Barrington Hills, Illinois used to be:
Horizon Farm in Barrington Hills, Illinois was once the home to William and Jane McGinley. The 400-acre farm was Successful in breeding and boarding Horses It held three of the state's top stallions. The McGinley's were not making a profit from the farm but the son, Robert McGinley, said they enjoyed the horse business as a hobby. The family had a long-standing interest in racehorses, fox hunts, and the conservation of open land.
Talk about an exotic Illinois place. Or, I should say used to be...It was virtually untouched by vandals.
Inside the home, it looks like it could have been used even after all these years. This living room is impeccable.
Even the stables didn't look that far gone.
The alarm system looks like it's still activated. Wonder if the police will show up soon?
According to the video description, this epic mansion was just demolished recently. Nothing but rubble for what used to be a beautiful horse facility and mansion.
