Minnesota's craft beer scene is one of the hottest anywhere, and now the Land of 10,000 Lakes has claimed three spots on the list of the Top 50 Producing Craft Breweries in the U.S.
If you're a craft beer fan, like I am, Minnesota is a great place to live. We have a TON of incredible craft breweries producing some and serving some amazing craft brews at their taprooms across the state.
In fact, the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild says there are currently 183 craft breweries scattered around the Bold North. And three of them just made the list of the 50 Top Producing Craft Beer Breweries in the Nation, according to the Brewers Association.
The Brewers Association is a trade group that represents small and independent American craft brewers. It found craft beer sales were up 8 percent last year compared to two years ago, as more taprooms were allowed to re-open after the pandemic closed many temporarily back in 2020.
The Brewers Association list of the Top 50 Producing U.S. Craft Beer Companies is based solely on how much craft beer each brewery produced in 2021, and is a look at total beer sales volume. So which Minnesota craft breweries secured a spot on the list this year? Take a look:
22. Summit Brewing Company in St. Paul.
30. August Schell Brewing in New Ulm.
39. Surly Brewing Company in Minneapolis.
Meanwhile, over in my home state of Wisconsin, three craft breweries also made the list this year:
12. New Glarus Brewing Company in New Glarus, WI.
17. Minhas Craft Brewery in Monroe, WI.
18. Stevens Point Brewery in Stevens Point, WI.
Now if you'd like to check out some amazing craft beer yourself, you can certainly head to any of those breweries. Or, you can keep scrolling to find over 20 incredible taprooms all within an hour of Rochester!
