The one who makes a difference. The one who doesn't just do the bare minimum, even when the job could be very difficult. Whose name comes to mind?

A Community is as Strong as its Teachers

Without dedicated educators inside every school, it's not hard to imagine the worst that could happen. Through education comes great opportunity. Without proper learning, there is no growth.

What makes this story so touching is the very young student at the center of it, who was lacking some basic skills and a love of learning until she met the one who made a difference.

That 'one' is Colleen Meyer from Windsor Elementary in Loves Park, Illinois. She is,

Colleen was nominated by Pattie Potempa, one very grateful grandmother, she writes,

This past March, my husband and I were named guardians for our seven-year-old granddaughter. She could barely read simple sight words and she did not like school. When it came to this school year, Bella was still not liking school. (The school nurse and I have had many phone calls). But now, she wants to go to school. She wants to be the first one there. And she tries very hard at reading and has improved her reading skills excellently. Mrs. Meyer has made a big impact on my granddaughter and it is great to know there are still teachers that work so hard to make a difference.

As Teacher of the Week, Colleen was surprised with a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and money to spend at WM Day Spa.
