This incident gets pretty bizarre. It's one of those events where you definitely want more background info. Unfortunately, it's the case that there are three versions of every story. One for each side and then the truth. I don't think we will ever know what really happened but I will share what I found out for sure.

According to cbsnews.com, 

A man is charged with aggravated battery after hitting two people with a skateboard in Crystal Lake on Tuesday.

 

Police responded to the 300 block of Teckler Boulevard around 11:18 p.m. for a report of two people who were reported battered by a known suspect.

The police didn't realize there was a weapon used to attack the victims. After conducting an investigation, that's when officers figured out the suspect hit them in the head with a skateboard. At this point, there's no reason for the assault.
