NHL: Rangers In Command In The East

NEW YORK (AP) — Martin St. Louis has the New York Rangers within one victory of their first trip to the Stanley Cup finals since 1994.

St. Louis scored his third goal of the series at 6:02 of overtime to give the Rangers a 3-2 win over the Canadiens and a three-games-to-one lead in the NHL's Eastern Conference finals. The Blueshirts blew a pair of one-goal leads and were repeatedly robbed by Dustin Tokarski, who made a sensational glove save on St. Louis during regulation. But in OT, St. Louis fired a snap shot over Tokarski's shoulder to keep the Rangers in control of the series.

Henrik Lundqvist stopped 27 shots and got the secondary assist on Derick Brassard's go-ahead goal with 56 seconds left in the second period. Carl Hagelin opened the scoring with a short-handed tally 7:18 into the contest.

P.K. Subban scored a power-play goal early in the third period to tie the game. Montreal had a great scoring chance late in regulation, but Alex Galchenyuk rang a shot off the crossbar after it hit Lundqvist.

The Rangers have won their last 12 playoffs series when taking a 3-1 lead in games.

New York can close out the series Tuesday in Montreal.
