Two young women from southeastern Minnesota are being recognized for their skills on the volleyball court.

Hannah Tapp has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the 2nd time in her career. The University of Minnesota Junior from Stewartville guided the fourth ranked Gophers to a pair of wins over Northwestern and top ranked Pen State by scoring 15 blocks, contributing to 23 kills and a .340 fitting average.

The same award was presented to her twin sister, Paige, last week.

The Northern Intercollegiate Conference Setter of the Week is Ashley Hinsch of Zumbrota. The University of Minnesota-Duluth senior averaged a NSIC high 13.44 assists per game as the Bulldogs defeated Minnesota State-Moorhead and third ranked Northern State in matches last week.

Her 121 assists have moved her into fourth place for career set assists at UMD.
