
Identity of 24-Year-Old Illinois Man Killed in Horrific I-39 Crash Revealed
The name of a man who died in a two-car crash Monday morning (1/23) on Interstate 39 has been released following an autopsy by the Winnebago County Coroner's office.
Around 10 am on Monday morning (1/23) the Illinois Department of Transportation reported a detour off the interstate after the accident on I-39 closed the northbound lanes between Mulford Road and Harrison Road.
The Cherry Valley Fire Department was on the scene of the fatal accident and shared images of the damage scattered across the highway along with pictures of the vehicles involved.
The man killed in the accident has been identified as 24-year-old John Danuk of Davis Junction, Illinois. He was the sole occupant in the vehicle, according to the press release.
An ambulance took Mr. Danuk to a local hospital following the crash where he was treated but later died from his injuries around 10:41 am, according to the press release from the Winnebago County Coroner.
Mr. Danuk’s cause of death was determined to be blunt trauma of the head due to the motor vehicle crash. -Matthew Lane, Winnebago County Chief Deputy Coroner
No further details were released about any other individuals who may have been involved in the accident.
